Angel Training
Do you know someone with Alzheimer's disease or another type of dementia? Chances are, you do. There are an estimated 5.3 million Americans living with Alzheimer's disease. The Purple Angel Dementia Awareness Program aims to educate the community and local businesses about dementia and how to assist those with the disease.
On Thursday, September 21, the City of Kaukauna and Kaukauna Utilities will offer voluntary Purple Angel training for staff. The goal of Purple Angel is to improve the experiences that people with dementia have in their community when doing everyday things like: going out to lunch, shopping for groceries, banking and paying bills, checking out a book and more. Staff will be trained on what dementia is and how to understand the disease as well as how to assist those with dementia so individuals with the disease will feel supported in public places around the community. With understanding and compassion from other, people with dementia can continue to be part of their community.
You are welcome to attend one of two Purple Angel training sessions we are offering - at 9:00 AM in the Council Chambers at the City of Kaukauna Municipal Services Building, or 1:00 PM in the Assembly Room at Kaukauna Utilities. We hope you will consider attending one of the sessions.
Please contact Karen Koch, City of Kaukauna (766-6310) or Amy Brick, Kaukauna Utilities (462-0227) with questions.
