BRAs of the Bay

BRAs of the Bay is back! Plastic Surgery & Skin Specialists by BayCare Clinic® will host the 7th annual BRAs of the Bay event Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Badger State Brewing Company at 6 p.m. Federal law mandates coverage of breast reconstruction surgery for most breast cancer patients, even if reconstruction is delayed until after cancer treatment is completed. Undergoing breast reconstruction can have profound physical and emotional benefits for women. It can help enhance their confidence and self-image after a mastectomy. Our goal with this event is to help close the loop on breast cancer and raise awareness of the breast reconstruction rights of breast cancer survivors. Tickets to the event are $20 and donations are being collected to help support the cause. BRAs of the Bay is part of a national effort sponsored by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The Plastic Surgery Foundation. National Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day (BRA Day) is Wednesday, October 20, 2021. It’s mission statement: Breast reconstruction following a mastectomy or lumpectomy is not for every woman, but every woman should be informed of the options to which she is legally entitled. National BRA Day helps raise awareness and close the loop on breast cancer. One hundred percent of the proceeds from BRAs of the Bay benefit the Ribbon of Hope Foundation and the National Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day initiative with support from the BayCare Clinic Foundation, the Plastic Surgery Foundation and Plastic Surgery & Skin Specialists by BayCare Clinic. Money donated to the Ribbon of Hope Foundation stays in the community to help provide emotional, financial, and educational support to breast cancer patients in Brown and Kewaunee counties. Decorating bras To celebrate breast reconstruction awareness day, businesses and individuals from the Green Bay area are invited to participate in the event by decorating bras. Those participating can register to decorate a bra online. Before being displayed at the event, businesses are encouraged to display their bra at their location in the community. All registered bras will be voted on by the public online from October 1 to October 20 (ending at midnight). Prizes will be awarded during the event.
