A group of volunteers in Fox Cities is striving to make a difference in the community – and is asking for additional help. The volunteer project will take place on Join Hands Day, Saturday, May 3, a national day of service sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America and other fraternal benefit societies. Over 13,000 volunteers will participate in Join Hands Day nationwide.
Volunteers in Fox Cities will help landscape Neenah Animal Shelter. The project will begin at 10:00am-1:00pm at Neenah Animal Shelter, 951 County Rd G, Neenah, WI.
Join Hands Day is the only national day of service designed to bring youth and adults together to plan and implement volunteer service projects in their communities. As the generations work side by side, they learn more about each other, sparking a new level of understanding and respect.
“Modern Woodmen is proud of the thousands of volunteers, across the country, who give back on Join Hands Day,” says Steve VanSpeybroeck, Modern Woodmen’s fraternal director. “We’re encouraging local community organizations to join hands with us in 2014.”
Jennifer Popek, project coordinator for the local initiative, agrees. “We want to make a difference in our community on May 3. By working with others, we can make an even greater impact.” In 2013, Modern Woodmen’s nationwide participation and volunteer service was valued at over $777,000 on Join Hands Day.
Modern Woodmen sells life insurance, annuity and investment products not to benefit stockholders but to improve the quality of life of its stakeholders – members, their families and their communities. They do this through social, charitable and volunteer activities. Annually, Modern Woodmen provides more than $20 million and more than 507,600 volunteer hours for local community projects.
Founded in 1883, Modern Woodmen of America touches lives and secures futures. The fraternal benefit society offers financial products and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States.
